Local coverage
Wall printing for Cambridge, delivered by a team that actually travels there
Cambridge combines a historic university city core with one of the country's densest science and technology clusters, spread across business parks such as the Cambridge Science Park, Babraham Research Campus and the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. Direct-to-wall printing fits both halves of that identity: it works on the exposed brick and timber of older college and city-centre buildings, and it works equally well on the plasterboard and glass of modern lab and office space, because the printer is mobile and prints straight onto whatever surface is on site.
We work with Cambridge organisations needing a single reception or breakout wall as well as those managing several sites across the East of England: a biotech or life-sciences company with more than one building, a university department spread across several colleges, a healthcare or education group with sites in Cambridge, Peterborough and Norwich. Because the printer covers up to 4 metres high and unlimited in length as one continuous image, a lab atrium or a long research-campus corridor is finished without a panel join breaking the artwork.
Cambridge's mix of building stock, historic college buildings, converted mill and industrial premises, and purpose-built science park units, is checked at the free site visit for flatness, damp and existing coatings before we quote. RAMS, public liability insurance, DBS checks and CHAS accreditation are supplied for every job regardless of where in the East of England it sits.
Response times to Cambridge
We travel to Cambridge and the wider East of England from our Essex base, a relatively short run compared with much of our nationwide coverage, and plan each visit around a confirmed date rather than a same-day call-out. Multi-site regional contracts are programmed into an efficient run so the same finish is delivered whether the wall is in Cambridge, Peterborough or Norwich.

Why Cambridge businesses choose UK Wall Printing
No disruption to research or teaching schedules
Instant UV curing means there is no drying time to plan around, so Cambridge labs, offices and college buildings are usable again as soon as we finish.
Comfortable working around historic and modern buildings alike
From college brick and converted mills to purpose-built science park units, every surface is surveyed properly before quoting.
Compliance Cambridge institutions ask for
Public liability insured, DBS checked and CHAS accredited, with RAMS supplied per job: what universities, research campuses and healthcare sites expect before signing off a contractor.
Consistency across an East of England portfolio
The same machine, inks and process on every site, so a rollout across Cambridge, Peterborough and Norwich produces identical results.
Local conditions
The wall problems we see again and again in Cambridge
Historic brick and stonework in college buildings
Cambridge's older college and city-centre buildings often carry historic brick, stone and previous coatings. We check for flatness, moisture and existing finishes at the free site visit before deciding how to prepare the artwork.
Vinyl lifting in high-traffic research corridors
Wallpaper and vinyl in busy lab and office corridors lift at door frames and equipment pinch points, then get picked at. Printing directly into the wall removes the edge that fails.
Access restrictions around sensitive research and college sites
Laboratories, research campuses and historic colleges often have strict access rules, security clearance and limited working windows. We plan the visit around those constraints rather than expecting the building to work around us.
Coordinating access across a multi-site science or education estate
A biotech company with more than one building or a university department spread across colleges needs each site scheduled around its own operational or term-time constraints. We plan multi-site rollouts as a single programme rather than treating each visit in isolation.
Our process
The same five-step system on every Cambridge job
-
Step 1
Free site visit and wall survey
We come to you, measure the wall, check it for flatness, damp, dust and existing coatings, and confirm the printable area. Our machine prints up to 4 metres high and unlimited in length, so the survey is where we work out exactly how your artwork maps onto the surface you have.
-
Step 2
Artwork preparation and digital proof
Send us your own file or let us create the design. We scale it to the true wall dimensions, correct resolution, colour and crop, then issue a to-scale digital proof. Nothing is printed until you have signed that proof off, so there are no surprises on the wall.
-
Step 3
Surface preparation and machine set-up
The wall is cleaned and prepared, the printer is set up against it and calibrated, and RAMS are supplied for the job. Set-up is quiet, contained and needs no scaffolding for standard heights.
-
Step 4
Direct-to-wall printing with instant UV cure
GREENGUARD Gold certified Nazdar 270 series UV inks are printed straight onto the wall and cured instantly as the head passes. There is no drying time, no solvent smell and no plastic film, so the image is finished the moment the last pass completes.
-
Step 5
Inspection, sign-off and clean handover
We walk the finished wall with you, check colour and edges, clear the area and leave the space usable straight away. The cured print is washable and scratch resistant, and lasts roughly 10 years indoors or 5 years outdoors.
Questions
Wall printing in Cambridge: your questions answered
Do you cover Cambridge and the East of England?
Yes. We travel to Cambridge and across the East of England, including Peterborough, Norwich and Ipswich, as part of our nationwide coverage for commercial and multi-site contracts.
How quickly can you get to a site in Cambridge?
Cambridge is a relatively short run from our Essex base compared with much of our coverage, though jobs are still planned around a confirmed date rather than a same-day visit. Tell us your dates when you enquire and we will confirm a realistic survey slot.
How much does wall printing cost in Cambridge?
Every wall is priced individually because size, surface condition, access and artwork complexity all change the job. The free site visit produces a written, bespoke quote for your specific wall, with no hourly guesswork.
Can you print onto historic college brick or stonework?
It depends on the specific surface, which is why we survey it first. Historic brick and stonework needs assessing for flatness and condition before we confirm whether it is suitable and how the artwork should be prepared.
Do we need to close the office or lab while you print?
Usually not. The UV ink cures as it is laid, so there is no paste and no solvent smell, and the area is usable as soon as we pack up. Many Cambridge clients continue operating in the rest of the building while we work.
How large can a mural be in a Cambridge research campus?
We print up to 4 metres high and unlimited in length as one continuous image, so lab atriums and long campus corridors are covered without panel joins or seams.
How long will a printed wall last in a Cambridge building?
Around 10 years indoors and 5 years outdoors. The print is washable and scratch resistant, which matters in busy research and college corridors.
Are your inks safe for laboratory and healthcare environments?
Our Nazdar 270 series UV inks are GREENGUARD Gold certified for low chemical emissions, and the process produces no plastic waste because nothing is laminated or stuck to the wall.
Can you supply insurance and method statements for our estates or security team?
Yes. We are publicly liability insured, DBS checked and CHAS accredited, and RAMS are supplied for every job as standard.
Can you handle several Cambridge and East of England sites as one project?
Yes. Multi-site rollouts across Cambridge, Peterborough, Norwich and surrounding towns are programmed into a single efficient run, using the same specification at every location.
