Overview

The 80 per cent of the building nobody has designed

Most organisations invest in the reception and then stop. The corridors, stairwells, lift lobbies, back-of-house routes and breakout spaces, the places staff and visitors spend far more time in, are left as painted plasterboard. Brand enhancement is the work of turning those neglected surfaces into a coherent environment rather than a series of blank runs.

Printing direct to the wall is what makes it affordable at that scale. There is no manufacturing, no panel sets and no installation of applied materials over hundreds of square metres. The printer travels the wall, prints continuously up to 4 metres high, cures instantly and moves on, which is why a long corridor is a realistic project rather than a fantasy budget line.

The effect is cumulative rather than dramatic. One branded stairwell does not transform a business, but consistent treatment across the routes people use every day changes how the building feels to work in and how it reads to visitors being walked through it. That is the difference between premises and an environment.

It also improves the practical condition of those areas. Scuffed corridor walls become washable, scratch-resistant printed surfaces with around a decade of indoor life, so the enhancement is a maintenance improvement as well as a visual one.

Why professional delivery matters

  • Environmental graphics need planning as a sequence, not wall by wall, or the building reads as inconsistent.
  • Long runs must be printed continuously to avoid the join lines that undermine large schemes.
  • Occupied circulation routes require RAMS, insurance and phased working to stay safe and usable.
  • Surface condition in high-traffic areas varies enormously and dictates preparation.

The cost of leaving it

What a neglected building does to people in it

Staff read the building every day. A workplace where the client-facing reception is polished and the staff corridor is scuffed magnolia sends an unambiguous message about who the organisation invests in. It is a small, constant signal, and it works against the retention and culture programmes being run elsewhere at considerably greater cost.

Visitors read it too, especially the ones being taken somewhere. The route from reception to the meeting room is where the impression made at the front desk either holds or collapses. A tired stairwell or a corridor of blank walls with mismatched notices is remembered more clearly than the reception, because it is where people spend more time.

There is a maintenance cost as well. Blank corridor walls get marked, then repainted, then marked again on a cycle that never ends and never improves anything. Money is spent repeatedly to return the space to neutral rather than once to make it better and more durable.

Common mistakes we are called in to fix

  • Treating each wall as a separate project

Piecemeal graphics produce an incoherent building. A planned sequence across the route delivers a far stronger result for similar spend.

  • Only investing in the reception

The reception is a minute of the visit. Corridors and breakout spaces are the rest of it and shape the lasting impression.

  • Choosing delicate finishes for busy routes

Circulation areas take constant contact. Washable, scratch-resistant printed surfaces are the appropriate specification.

  • Repainting on a cycle instead of upgrading

Repeated repainting spends the budget without ever improving the space or reducing future marking.

Our process

A five-step system, so you know exactly what happens and when

  1. Step 1

Free site visit and wall survey

We come to you, measure the wall, check it for flatness, damp, dust and existing coatings, and confirm the printable area. Our machine prints up to 4 metres high and unlimited in length, so the survey is where we work out exactly how your artwork maps onto the surface you have.

  2. Step 2

    Artwork preparation and digital proof

Send us your own file or let us create the design. We scale it to the true wall dimensions, correct resolution, colour and crop, then issue a to-scale digital proof. Nothing is printed until you have signed that proof off, so there are no surprises on the wall.

  3. Step 3

    Surface preparation and machine set-up

The wall is cleaned and prepared, the printer is set up against it and calibrated, and RAMS are supplied for the job. Set-up is quiet, contained and needs no scaffolding for standard heights.

  4. Step 4

Direct-to-wall printing with instant UV cure

GREENGUARD Gold certified Nazdar 270 series UV inks are printed straight onto the wall and cured instantly as the head passes. There is no drying time, no solvent smell and no plastic film, so the image is finished the moment the last pass completes.

  5. Step 5

    Inspection, sign-off and clean handover

We walk the finished wall with you, check colour and edges, clear the area and leave the space usable straight away. The cured print is washable and scratch resistant, and lasts roughly 10 years indoors or 5 years outdoors.

Benefits

What you get out of it, stated plainly

Large areas made affordable

No manufacturing and no applied materials means long corridors and stairwells are financially realistic.

Continuous, coherent runs

Unlimited print length up to 4 metres high, so a whole corridor is one artwork rather than a sequence of panels.

Tougher than paint

Washable and scratch resistant, reducing the endless mark-and-repaint cycle in circulation areas.

No disruption to occupation

Instant curing and no odour, so routes are handed back usable immediately and work can be phased.

Reinforces brand continuously

Every trip between floors and meetings restates the identity instead of ignoring it.

Adaptable over time

Sections can be repainted and reprinted as teams, messaging or branding change.

Brand enhancement in a customer-facing space

Brand enhancement is about the moment a visitor walks in and immediately understands who you are and what you stand for. Printing the brand directly onto the walls removes the frames, panels and posters that make a space feel temporary, and replaces them with a finish that reads as part of the building.

The video below shows a housing development marketing suite: an environment built entirely around persuading visitors. Wall graphics carry the identity across the room at full scale, supporting the sales conversation without a single piece of applied signage.

In detail

Planning an environment rather than a wall

We start with a walkthrough of the routes people actually take: entrance to desk, desk to meeting room, floor to floor. That produces a map of which surfaces are seen most, which are seen briefly and which are effectively invisible, and budget is directed accordingly rather than spread evenly.

A visual system is then set: a palette drawn from your brand, a family of graphic treatments, and a hierarchy that distinguishes primary statement walls from supporting surfaces. Consistency across the system is what makes a building feel designed, and because we hold the approved files, later phases match earlier ones exactly.

Phasing is planned around occupation. Circulation routes usually cannot all be closed at once, so we sequence work floor by floor or wing by wing, printing and curing each section so it is immediately back in use. RAMS are supplied per job and we work to CHAS standards, with DBS clearance where the site requires it.

Surface condition is assessed section by section. High-traffic corridors frequently have patch repairs, differing paint sheens and impact damage; those need preparing before printing so the finished environment is uniform rather than mapping the history of every repair.

Residential projects

In apartment blocks and managed developments, enhancement focuses on entrance lobbies, stair cores and communal corridors; the shared areas that most affect how a building is perceived by residents and prospective buyers.

Commercial projects

Commercially, the driver is usually staff experience, client walkthrough quality and reduced redecoration cycles. Work is phased around occupation with RAMS, insurance, CHAS accreditation and DBS clearance in place so live buildings keep operating throughout.

Variations of this service

  • Corridor environments

Continuous artwork along full runs, which is where unlimited print length matters most.

  • Stairwell and lift lobby schemes

Vertical circulation treated as a designed sequence rather than leftover space.

  • Breakout and collaboration areas

Graphic treatments that make informal spaces feel intentional and usable.

  • Culture and values messaging

Internal messaging at architectural scale in the spaces staff pass daily.

  • Communal areas in managed buildings

Landlord and managing-agent improvements to shared routes and entrances.

Questions

Brand Enhancement: the questions we are asked before every job

How much does brand enhancement cost?

It depends on the area covered, the number of walls, surface preparation and phasing. We walk the routes with you and quote the whole scheme free of charge, so you can prioritise if needed.

Can you do it in phases?

Yes. We hold approved artwork and specification so later phases match earlier ones exactly, even months apart.

Will corridors be out of use?

Only while we are physically printing that section. The ink cures instantly, so each area is handed straight back in use.

Is it more durable than paint?

Yes. The cured print is washable and scratch resistant with around 10 years of indoor life, so it stands up to circulation traffic far better than emulsion.

Can you work while the building is occupied?

Yes. GREENGUARD Gold certified inks mean no solvent odour, and we supply RAMS per job with public liability insurance, CHAS accreditation and DBS clearance.

How long is a typical corridor project?

It depends on length and preparation, but printing is continuous and curing is instant, so schemes progress quickly once artwork is approved.

Can you match our existing brand palette?

Yes. Artwork is prepared against your brand references and proofed to scale before printing.

What if teams move or messaging changes?

Individual sections can be repainted and reprinted without touching the rest of the scheme.

Do you cover walls higher than 4 metres?

We print up to 4 metres in height. Where walls are taller, we plan the composition around that printable band at the survey stage.

Do you work outside London and Essex?

Yes, nationwide for larger schemes, with London and the South East covered as standard.
